A SCHOOL has been positioned into lockdown with a “main police presence” after threats had been made to pupils.
Police had been known as to Thornhill Group Academy in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, this afternoon after threats had been made on social media.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police stated: “At 2.12pm at this time (Friday), police had been contacted by Thornhill Excessive College in Dewsbury who suggested they had been taking safety precautions following reported threats to pupils on social media.
“Native officers attended to liaise with employees relating to this matter and the pupils had been launched with out incident a short while later Enquiries are ongoing.”
A textual content message, despatched by the varsity to oldsters of pupils at 2.27pm and seen by Yorkshire Dwell, says: “The academy is in lockdown – this can be a precautionary measure, all college students and employees are secure.
“The academy is in lockdown on account of info obtained in regards to the finish of the varsity day.
“All college students are secure and there’s no threat to employees or college students. We’re actively speaking with the native police and might be in contact as quickly as doable.
“Please don’t contact your youngster or flip up on the academy.”
A second textual content message, despatched by Thornhill Academy to oldsters of pupils says: “The Academy is now out of lockdown. Police are on web site and are offering a presence in any respect exit factors.

Thornhill Group Academy has 750 college students.
