A Pakistani man with alleged ties to Iran has been charged in the US in reference to a foiled plot to assassinate a US politician or authorities officers, the Justice Division stated on Tuesday.
Asif Service provider, 46, sought to recruit individuals in the US to hold out the plot in retaliation for the US killing of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ high commander Qassem Soleiman in 2020, based on a legal criticism.
Service provider, who prosecutors allege hung out in Iran earlier than touring to the US, was charged with homicide for rent in federal court docket in New York’s Brooklyn borough. A federal decide ordered him detained on July 16, based on court docket information.
