The Ministry of Agriculture and Pure Assets introduced that the Forestry Division planted 161 thousand saplings within the beforehand burned space between Mersinlik and Ardahan in 2024. Based on the Ministry's assertion, land preparations had been made within the space between Mersinlik and Ardahan between October and December 2023, and the tender for planting saplings was concluded in December. Inside the scope of the planting works, which began in January 2024 and accomplished on the finish of February, 9 thousand 740 purple pine, 33 thousand 780 cypress, 45 thousand 380 stone pine, 29 thousand 160 Aleppo pine, 1240 tamarisk and 41 thousand 680 eucalyptus saplings had been planted. It was said that the saplings had been produced by Güzelyurt Forest Nursery from seeds obtained from native sources.
