The anniversary of the twenty eighth of October can also be celebrated with nice splendor by Cypriot Hellenism.
Within the morning, a solemn eulogy was held on the Cathedral of Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia, below the patronage of Archbishop Georgios, within the presence of the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Parliament, different officers and a crowd of individuals.
The eulogy of the day was delivered by the professor of the Democritus College of Thrace, Emmanuel Varvounis.
Subsequent, in entrance of the Greek embassy in Nicosia, was the standard parade, with the participation of veterans, college students of upper and better schooling, college students of secondary colleges, scouts, unions and organizations. The salute of the parade was obtained by the President of the Republic.
Anniversary occasions had been held all through free Cyprus.
Events and organizations, with bulletins, honor the “Nationwide anniversary of October 28” and the “No” of Hellenism towards fascism and Nazism.
