After reactions from a part of the Italian Jewish neighborhood, the statue of the new child Jesus and the normal Palestinian scarf – the kefiya – have been faraway from the manger donated by the Palestinian neighborhood of Bethlehem to the Vatican.
The press service of the Vatican introduced that the small statue of Jesus will likely be re-placed within the manger on the night time of December 24 – because the associated custom dictates – and that “the headdress had been added on the final second, by the artist who supervised the ornament”.
Pope Francis had prayed in entrance of this manger final Saturday and some hours later, members of the Jewish neighborhood of Italy had underlined that “Jesus is linked to Jewish tradition and custom” and that “this alternative doesn’t facilitate dialogue between religions and cultures”.
