102 individuals have been executed by Congolese authorities prior to now week, and one other 70 are scheduled to be executed throughout the subsequent 24 hours.
The executed males are stated to be males aged 18 to 35 and belong to so-called Kuluna gangs. Authorities describe them as “armed robbers” and “city bandits.”
The executions happened at Angenga jail in northwestern Congo. The nation has not used the loss of life penalty towards civilians since 2003, and the selection to renew executions is going through opposition from a number of quarters.
