Excessive tides mixed with sturdy winds left roads submerged and sea water lapping on the doorways of houses in areas of Portsmouth.
The coast at Previous Portsmouth, Spice Island and the Gunwharf space had been deluged in a single day and waves crashed over the ocean wall close to Clarence Pier.
Forward of the excessive tide, floodgates and flood boards had been put in place by the town council to guard houses and companies.
The world is predicted to report its highest-ever tides, the Setting Company has mentioned.
