The challenges confronted by the Republic of Cyprus as a frontline state, in relation to migration flows and the necessity for shut cooperation between the member states and the EU, with the purpose of a unified and complete response to those challenges, is predicted to be emphasised throughout the work of the Council of Justice and House Affairs (House Affairs) of the EU, the Deputy Minister for Migration and Worldwide Safety Dr. Nikolas Ioannidis.
In line with an announcement by the Deputy Ministry, the work of the Council of Justice and House Affairs of the EU will happen on Thursday, in Luxembourg and the 27 Ministers will probably be involved, amongst different issues, with immigration and asylum points and particularly the EU coverage relating to the repatriation of third nation nationals , who usually are not entitled to stay within the territory of the Member States.
The Deputy Minister of Migration, it’s reported, “will spotlight the necessity for efficient implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, with an emphasis on the safety of exterior borders and the correct functioning of the solidarity mechanism”.
On the sidelines of the Council's work, the Deputy Minister may even have a gathering with Beate Gminder, Deputy Director-Common of the European Fee's Directorate-Common for Migration and House Affairs.
Dr. Ioannidis returns to Cyprus on Friday.
