An Italian courtroom on Friday acquitted Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini over allegations of kidnapping in a case involving a migrant rescue boat that he prevented from docking in Italy 2019.
Salvini, who was inside minister on the time, compelled the migrants to stay aboard the boat operated by charity Open Arms for nearly three weeks off the southern Italian island of Lampedusa.
