Japanese Atomic Bomb Survivors Awarded Nobel Peace Prize
The Nobel committee mentioned that Nihon Hidankyo, the Japanese grass-roots motion of “hibakusha,” or atomic bombing survivors, has demonstrated that “nuclear weapons must not ever be used once more.”
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has determined to award the Peace Prize for 2024 to the Japanese group Nihon Hidankyo. This grass-roots motion of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, often known as “hibakusha,” is receiving the Peace Prize for its efforts to realize a world freed from nuclear weapons and for demonstrating by means of witness testimony that nuclear weapons must not ever be used once more.
