Qatar Airways will resume flights to Damascus beginning Jan. 7, simply days after Qatar reopened its embassy within the Syrian capital after a 13-year closure.
The airline introduced it can function three weekly flights to the town, which it described as having “nice historic and cultural significance.”
Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer stated in an announcement that the transfer underscores the airline’s dedication to fostering connectivity and facilitating journey for passengers.
Qatar reopened its embassy in Damascus on Dec. 21, 2024, following the autumn of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s authorities on Dec. 8. The embassy had been closed since 2011, after the outbreak of the Syrian civil battle.
