Russia has ordered journalists of the German media ARD to go away the nation in response to German authorities’ closure of Russian broadcaster Channel One’s workplace, Russian Overseas Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova mentioned on Wednesday.
“In response to the unfriendly actions of German authorities, which have been taken in opposition to Russian correspondents … as a mirror measure, it’s prescribed to German correspondents handy over their accreditation certificates and go away the territory of the Russian Federation,” Zakharova mentioned at a media briefing.
She added that Russia will probably be able to challenge accreditation to new ARD staff after Germany creates situations for the work of Russian journalists and resumes actions of Channel One’s workplace.
Earlier within the day, Russian media reported German authorities have been closing Channel One’s workplace in Berlin, requiring a correspondent and a cameraman of the broadcaster to go away Germany in early December.
The broadcaster offered a doc by the German authorities, which reportedly acknowledged that “the actions of Channel One symbolize a major rapid risk to public order and safety in Germany and the EU as they pose a risk to the method of the formation of the general public opinion and decision-making within the member states.”
