Ukraine and Russia swapped 115 prisoners of warfare from either side on Saturday in a deal brokered by the United Arab Emirates, the primary alternate since Kyiv launched an offensive within the Kursk area earlier this month.
Some 82 Ukrainian troopers who served within the protection of Mariupol had been amongst these despatched again residence, whereas the Russian detainees had been captured within the Kursk area through the ongoing cross-border offensive by Kyiv’s forces, in line with reviews.
“One other 115 of our defenders have returned residence right this moment,” Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on X. “These are warriors of the Nationwide Guard, the Armed Forces, the Navy, and the State Border Guard Service.”
The UAE confirmed on Saturday that it had helped dealer the swap deal, with the Overseas Ministry including it comes a month after an earlier spherical of captive swapping between the 2 sides.
