The KSED was mobilized for the airlift of a ship crew member off Cyprus, who was deemed essential to be hospitalized.
Particularly, in accordance with a related announcement, at 17:45 the KSED activated the Nationwide E-D NEARCHOS Plan with the purpose of airlifting a 54-year-old man from the Philippines, a crew member of the Singapore-flagged cargo ship “MAERSK CALABAR”.
The ship was crusing at a distance of 123NM South-West of Cyprus, inside the E-W space of accountability of the Republic of Cyprus (Nicosia FIR) and for the execution of the airlift, a helicopter of the 460MED of the Aviation Administration of the GEEF was mobilized, with a specialised nurse of the Ambulance Service.
The 54-year-old was safely delivered at 21:28 to Paphos Basic Hospital for additional remedy.
