Ninety-five Libyan nationals have been arrested on suspicion of receiving coaching at an “unlawful” navy camp in South Africa, police have stated.
Officers raided the location on Friday after receiving intelligence two days prior.
The camp was located on a farm close to White River, a small city within the northern province of Mpumalanga.
The Libyans allegedly “misrepresented themselves” on their visa purposes by saying they’d be coaching as safety guards, nationwide police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe stated.
“We take any menace to the safety and stability of our province and nation very critically,” police commissioner Zeph Mkhwanazi was quoted as saying in a police assertion.
Nevertheless, the identical assertion assured the general public that there was “no speedy menace to group security”.
The 95 Libyan nationals have been taken into custody and are being questioned by the related authorities.
The police haven’t stated who the detainees may need been receiving navy coaching from.
