In her funeral speech, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, emphasised that the previous prime minister left a deep mark on the Submit-colonial period together with his personal, distinct and timeless, political instance, together with his essential reference being European social democracy and the present of modernization.

He emphasised the democratic consistency of the previous prime minister, the intense infrastructure that Greece acquired throughout his phrases, and the 2 decisive steps that marked the European perspective of each Greece and Cyprus: Greece's accession to the euro and the entry of Cyprus within the European Union.
