A number of hundred Cypriot donkeys reside on the Karpasia peninsula within the occupied a part of Cyprus.
They had been deserted there by Greek Cypriot farmers in the course of the Turkish invasion in 1974 and have since created a free colony within the uninhabited lands of Karpasia.
