The US stated immediately it intends to keep up its robust alliance with France regardless of the far-right's historic first-round victory in Sunday's presidential election.
“We’ve full confidence in France's democratic establishment and democratic processes, and we intend to proceed working intently with the French authorities on all overseas coverage priorities,” State Division deputy spokesman Vedant Patel instructed reporters.
