For greater than 170 years, a small Ayrshire enterprise has been crafting curling stones by hand from a volcanic rock off Scotland’s west coast.
Kays Scotland is the one firm on the planet accredited to supply the stones used for Olympic and World Championships matches.
The granite – considered a few of the strongest and densest ever found – is harvested from the island of Ailsa Craig roughly as soon as each decade.
